PCB Layout Engineer
Company Overview
Xalten Systems is a forward-thinking technology company specializing in developing cutting-edge
solutions for various industries and the defense sector. Our focus is on creating groundbreaking
products in precision automation and sensor systems. As a startup, we operate from a first principles
approach, tackling complex problems head-on and building efficient, elegant solutions from the ground up.
Role: PCB Layout Engineer
We are seeking a hands-on PCB Layout Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity
for a fresher or someone with up to one year of experience to gain hands-on exposure in a fast-paced
environment and contribute to a wide range of electronic product development. We're looking for someone
who is as passionate about solving complex routing puzzles as they are about creating a clean,
high-performing design.
Your systematic approach and attention to detail will be key to ensuring manufacturability and compliance
in our cutting-edge products.
Key Responsibilities
- Create multi-layer PCB layouts from schematic designs using industry-standard CAD tools, ranging from simple 2-layer to complex HDI boards.
- Optimize component placement for signal integrity, thermal management, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
- Route high-speed digital signals, analog circuits, and power distribution networks with precision.
- Perform design rule checks (DRC) and electrical rule checks (ERC) to ensure design integrity.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to resolve layout challenges, conduct signal integrity analysis, and implement best practices.
- Ensure designs meet IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-2222) and other industry specifications.
- Generate manufacturing files (Gerber, position, assembly drawings) and coordinate with fabricators for production yield.
- Support prototype testing and resolve layout-related issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field; or Diploma in Electronics with relevant training.
- 1–4 years of experience in PCB design and layout (Freshers with passion are encouraged to apply).
- Proficiency in PCB design software (KiCad preferred; Altium, Eagle, or Cadence also acceptable).
- Familiarity with analog and digital circuit design principles is a plus.
- Knowledge of power integrity & signal integrity concepts, impedance control, and EMI/EMC considerations.
- Experience with high-speed digital design (e.g., USB, Ethernet) is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with component packaging, footprint creation, library management, PCB manufacturing processes, and DFM principles.
- Knowledge of IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-2222).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with low noise design and mixed signal board routing.
- Knowledge of power electronics and thermal management.
- Familiarity with 3D mechanical CAD integration.
- Experience with simulation tools (LTSpice, Tina TI).
- Understanding of component sourcing and supply chain considerations.
Who You Are
- Meticulous & Analytical: Exceptional eye for detail and strong analytical skills for precise layouts.
- Curious & Hands-on: A builder at heart, eager to explore electronics and support prototype assembly.
- Driven & Adaptable: Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative: Can work effectively both independently and with cross-functional teams.
- Positive Attitude: Brings a "can-do" mindset to every design and optimization task.
